Emails wider than the screen

Some emails are built for a big monitor, like a newsletter 800 pixels wide or a statement with a dozen columns. Rookery fits them in this order:

  1. It lets the email reflow. Pictures and tables shrink to fit, which is enough for most emails.
  2. It widens the message. On a wide screen, the message grows past the usual column, up to the room on the page.
  3. It scales the email down, to about three quarters of its size at most on a computer. On a phone it always shrinks the email to fit. Pinch to zoom in.
  4. It shows the email at full size when shrinking it further would make it too small to read. The edge fades, and More → moves on. You can also drag the email sideways or use the arrow keys.

Fit and 100%

A wide email has Fit and 100% above it:

  • Fit shows the whole width at once.
  • 100% shows the email at its own size, to read the small print. Move sideways by dragging, with the arrow keys or with More →.
  • ⌘+ and ⌘− (Ctrl+ and Ctrl− on Windows) zoom in and out inside the email once you've clicked it. ⌘0 fits it again.

Open full size opens the email on its own page in a new tab.
