# Mail from services finds its own place

Account notices, sign-in codes, receipts and other no-reply mail don't sit in your inbox waiting for a reply. Here's where each one goes.

Staying safe with Scout · Updated October 11, 2026 · https://userookery.com/help/mail-from-services/

A lot of your mail isn't from people. It's a bank saying a card was removed, a site sending a sign-in code, an app telling you someone commented. None of it needs a reply, so Rookery doesn't leave it open in your turn. Scout reads each email as it arrives, works out what kind it is, and files it where it belongs.

## Where each kind goes

- **Account notices**, like "You removed your card from Apple Pay", "Your password was changed" or "New sign-in to your account": filed, with **Was this you?** on the conversation and a quiet line on **Today** for a day.
- **Sign-in codes and links**: filed, and shown on **Today** for 15 minutes with the code ready to copy.
- **Receipts, orders and deliveries**: filed into [Kept](https://userookery.com/help/kept/), which keeps track of them.
- **Travel mail**, like a flight confirmation, a delay or "Wi-Fi on your flight": filed with its [trip](https://userookery.com/help/trips/).
- **Bills** stay where [Bills](https://userookery.com/help/bills/) shows them, because they need paying.
- **Newsletters** stay with your [subscriptions](https://userookery.com/help/tidy-up-subscriptions/).
- **Other notices** from no-reply addresses: filed quietly. Your [daily brief](https://userookery.com/help/daily-brief/) says how many in one line, like "Filed quietly: 4 notices, from Sketchpad, Octo and 2 more."

Filed mail is in **Done**, and search finds it. Open it any time.

## Was this you?

When a service says something changed on your account, Rookery asks you once.

1. On **Today**, find the line, like "Venmo: card removed". Or open the email: the card is at the top.
2. Choose **Yes, that was me**. It's filed as Done, and nothing else happens.
3. Or choose **No, I didn't do this**. The conversation opens again, marked urgent, and stays at the top of **Today** until you mark it **Done**. The card tells you what to do:
   - Open the app, or type the website yourself. Don't use the links in the email.
   - Check the recent activity on your account.
   - Change your password, and turn on two-step sign-in if it's off.

If you don't answer within a day, the line leaves Today and the notice stays filed.

**Genuinely from Venmo** means Venmo's own domain signed the email, so it really came from them. When it didn't, the card says so quietly. Check in the service's app instead of trusting the email.

A person's page shows the service's **Account activity**: every change its notices told you about, and what you answered.

## Sign-in codes

When a code arrives, it's the first card on **Today**, with a **Copy** button. After 15 minutes it leaves Today. The code is never in the inbox preview, your daily brief or a notification.

## New senders

A real service's notices skip [New senders](https://userookery.com/help/screener/) and go straight to their place. That only happens when the service's own domain signed the email, a machine clearly sent it, and Rookery knows what kind it is. People, newsletters and anything unsigned still wait for you.

## Good to know

- Scout still checks every one of these emails for scams. A notice Scout holds gets no **Was this you?**, and no code card.
- The helpers never follow links in a notice and never act on what it says. They only work out what kind it is.
- When the words don't make it clear whether a person or a service wrote, Scout's AI makes the call, and only when it's sure.
- Mail from before this arrived is sorted too, a little at a time.
