# Email a teammate

Email to a teammate's inbox in Rookery is delivered inside Rookery, never over email. It arrives at once, with an Internal mark that can't be faked.

Getting started · Updated October 11, 2026 · https://userookery.com/help/email-a-teammate/

When you email one of your team's inboxes, like a teammate's own inbox or support@, Rookery puts it straight into that inbox. It never goes out over email, so it's there at once and doesn't count toward your sending limit.

## Send it

1. Write the email as usual, from **Write** or a reply, with the teammate's inbox address in **To** or **Cc**.
2. Press **Send**. You still get the 20-second undo, and **Send later** works the same way.
3. Your thread shows **Sent**, and a line says Rookery delivered it inside to that address.

If the same email also goes to people outside your team, they get it by email as usual. Each person gets it the right way. If the email part fails, your teammates still have it, and the error says who didn't get it. **Try again** sends only to the people outside.

## What your teammate sees

- The email in their inbox, from you, with your photo and the mark **Internal · Priya, inside Rookery** under the sender.
- Hover over the mark, or tap it, to read what it means: Rookery delivered it inside, never over email, and you sent it from your own Rookery account.
- It never waits in **New senders**, and Scout never holds it.
- Quill doesn't write a draft reply on its own. Ask Quill in the reply if you want one.
- Their reply comes back to you the same way.

## Why you can trust the mark

- Rookery draws the mark from where it stored the email, never from anything written in the email. Email that arrives from outside Rookery can't show it, even when it says it's from your own domain.
- The name and photo come from the sender's Rookery account, so nobody can borrow them.
- An email from your own domain that uses a teammate's name but came from outside Rookery gets a warning instead. See [Why Scout flagged an email](https://userookery.com/help/why-scout-held-an-email/).

## Good to know

- Only addresses that are inboxes in your Rookery are delivered inside. A teammate's sign-in address, like a Gmail address, gets an email.
- Scout still checks files and links in a teammate's email, because a colleague can forward a bad file without knowing. It shows a note, and never holds it.
- Automatic emails, like a receipt Quill sends on its own, are never delivered to a teammate's inbox.
- An email to a teammate's private inbox stays private: you see that it was delivered, never their conversation.
- If someone leaves the team before their scheduled email goes, it doesn't go.
- Secure messages and calendar invites still go by email for now.
