# Keep track of your bills

Rookery finds bills in your mail and lists them by due date, with the amount. Mark them paid, and see what's due on Today and in your brief.

"Which email was the bill in?" **Bills** answers that. Rookery reads the invoices and statements that come in, pulls out who it's from, the amount and the due date, and keeps them in one list.

## See what's due

1. Open **Bills** in the sidebar.
2. Bills are grouped into **Overdue**, **Due this week**, **Later** and **Paid in the last 30 days**. Each group shows its total.
3. Each bill shows who it's from, the amount and the due date, with links to the **File** and the **Email** it came in.

## Mark a bill

- Click **Paid** when you've paid it. It moves to the paid list.
- Click **Not a bill** if Rookery got it wrong. It leaves the list.
- Changed your mind? Click **Not paid yet** on a paid bill.

## Catch bills written in the email

By default, Rookery reads bills that come as attached files. Some bills are written in the email itself. To catch those too:

1. Go to **Settings → Just me**. Only owners and admins can change this.
2. Under **Just-me mode**, tick **Find bills in emails**.
3. Save.

## Good to know

- Overdue bills and bills due within 7 days show on **Today**, with a **Mark paid** button, and in your [daily brief](https://userookery.com/help/daily-brief/). There are no separate bill alerts.
- The number next to **Bills** in the sidebar counts bills due within a week.
- Receipts count as already paid, so they don't show up as bills.
- Your choices stick, even if Rookery reads the file again.
- Every bill's file is also kept in **Documents**.
