# Rookery API > Work in a Rookery inbox from your own apps and agents. A REST API at https://app.userookery.com/api/v1 and an MCP server at https://app.userookery.com/mcp, with the same operations and the same API keys (`Authorization: Bearer rk_…`, made in Settings → Integrations → API keys). Keys are scoped to read, write, draft and send; replies are drafts a person approves unless the key may send. ## Guides - [Quickstart](https://userookery.com/developers/quickstart.md): Make a read-only API key, then list the conversations in your inbox. It takes about 2 minutes. - [Keys and scopes](https://userookery.com/developers/keys-and-scopes.md): What an API key can see and do, how scopes work, and why someone's private inbox answers 404. - [Errors](https://userookery.com/developers/errors.md): Every error is a status code and one sentence in an error field. What each code means, and what to do. - [Rate limits](https://userookery.com/developers/rate-limits.md): Each key may make 120 requests a minute, across the REST API and the MCP server together. - [Pagination](https://userookery.com/developers/pagination.md): Lists come newest first, up to 100 at a time. How to find what you need until cursors arrive. - [Retries](https://userookery.com/developers/retries.md): Which requests are safe to send again after a timeout, and how to check before retrying the ones that aren't. - [Draft, don't send](https://userookery.com/developers/draft-dont-send.md): The safe pattern for agents. Your agent reads and drafts; a person reads every reply before it goes out. - [Connect with MCP](https://userookery.com/developers/mcp.md): Connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cursor to your inbox through Rookery's MCP server and an API key. - [Webhooks](https://userookery.com/developers/webhooks.md): Rookery tells your app when something happens, with a small signed POST. Events, verification, retries and the delivery log. - [Testing and the sandbox](https://userookery.com/developers/sandbox.md): The plan for testing sends and incoming mail without real customers: test keys, a sandbox workspace and magic addresses. Coming soon. - [Changelog and versioning](https://userookery.com/developers/changelog.md): What changed in the API, newest first, and how we change it without breaking your code. ## Reference - [API reference](https://userookery.com/developers/reference.md): every endpoint as Markdown, with examples - [OpenAPI 3.1 spec](https://userookery.com/developers/openapi.json): generated from the definitions the API runs on ## Optional - [Everything above in one file](https://userookery.com/developers/llms-full.txt) - [Rookery Help](https://userookery.com/llms.txt): how people use Rookery
